Sunshine wanted to visit sick children at the hospital. The floors at the hospital were very clean
and slippery, so Sunshine needed special plastic shoes that prevent slipping.
The horseshoer had just the right type of shoes, so he nailed the shoes onto
Sunshine’s hooves.
At the hospital, Sunshine went across the waxed floor to the elevator. She backed
into the elevator and nosed button 3 for the third floor. When she reached the 3rd floor there was an
open area for basketball playing. Sunshine waited there for the hospital patients
to come visit her.
Soon children, parents, nurses, and volunteers came to see, hug, groom, and in
some cases ride her at a walk around the flat open area. The children in wheel
chairs got right under her nose. The children who rode her got onto steps to slip onto
her back. Sunshine loved everyone.
The hospital children said good bye with a heeling smile. Sunshine bowed and
walked back to the elevator. She nosed button 1. On the bottom floor, the staff
cheered and clapped to thank her for volunteering to lift the spirits of all the sick
children. The staff yelled out, “Come back soon”.
