Sunshine was talking with the other horses at the barn about fire safety. Sunshine
cares for all of her barn friends and wants them to be safe. She told all of the horses that
if the barn was to catch on fire, everyone was to walk out the front door one at a time, so
no one would bump or trip over anyone else. Sunshine told each horse to grab their
blanket and toss it into the watering can. Then each horse was told to take the blanket
and put it over their head. Sunshine reminded all the barn animals to remember that if they
catch on fire to, “STOP, DROP, and ROLL!”
Sunshine smelled a fire. All the horses looked towards the forest. Flames were
shooting high above the trees and the fire was moving quickly in the wind. The horses
dipped their blankets in water and put them over their heads. The horses walked out the
barn in single file as they feared the fire might get to the barn.
Sunshine put her nose on the barn telephone and the receiver fell to the floor.
Sunshine pushed the three numbers with the nail in her new shoes. Sunshine pushed 9.
Sunshine pushed 1. Sunshine pushed 1. A person on the phone said we know your
location and we know about the fire in the nearby forest. Helicopters with water are now
there and have control of the fire. Thank you for calling 9 1 1. Good job!
